Technical aspects

Because our residents represent a special category of patients, having special needs and remaining here until the end of their lives, we tried to create the best conditions of life for them, in the given situation. It is to remember that the Care and Assistance Center from Cluj is functioning in a building built in the period 1855–1870. In 1996, because the missing of sustenance works, the institution was in a situation of advanced demotion.

The buildings of the center were totally recovered and adapted to their functions. Beside the capital reparations of the roofs and of the walls and hydro-isolations, the old rotten windows were replaced with new termopan ones, was introduced a central heating (every building with its own heating), was restored and changed all the planking; in the main building, where are living our residents, was covered with polivynilic cover, type Gerflor, both on the halls and in the rooms. Were taken off all the doorsteps and were restored all the entrances, some with termopan doors and it was built an access way for the rolling-chairs and the stretchers. In the same time, the bathrooms and the toilettes were totally restored and rearranged, with all the accessories adapted to the patients’ situation, was completed the endowment of the gym room, for the physical recovery for the patients with invalidities and for maintaining the present situation and the functional residual, were replaced all the beds and were brought individual wardrobes in the rooms.

In the same time were completely replaced all the pipes for water and sewers inside and outside, until the street; the electrical power was doubled, being necessary the supplementation of the cables and the restoration of the installation.

The yard of the center, in ramshackle, was totally renewed, based on a plan of landscape rearrangement; were asphalted and paved all the access ways for autos and persons and were planted trees, shrubs and lawn. The old pigsty was transformed into a laundry with 4 performant washing machines and the green house, damaged and unfunctional, was transformed in a drying-room, both of them with all the needed  endowments.

All these things were accomplished until 2003, in principal with money from the local and county budget, but also with important local sponsorships and with supplementary financial and material maintenance from abroad.
